A Party and Some Lights

Lately it seems that the Holidays are just a busy time of the year for us (as I am sure it is with everyone).  However, I must admit that even for us these past two weekends were a little more than just busy in our household. It almost seems like we've just been in "full speed ahead" mode since Thanksgiving.
On the weekend of the 5th we had Michael's company Christmas party to attend.  The party was held at the Main Event in Grapevine and while they did have a few lanes open for us to bowl, some game cards for the children and Santa there for pictures it really didn't put us much into the Christmas Spirit like I'd hoped it would.  We were really looking forward to a family outing where we could just relax and have some fun with some other families for a few hours but much to our dismay it was anything but that.  Let's just say that the event that was supposed to be family friendly wasn't very suitable for families with small children. Plus, I don't know about you but when I think Christmas party I usually associate it with some time of food.  For us there was only free sodas, bags of nuts or cracker jacks and some chips and cheese dip. Needless to say that when we left we all felt a little cranky and sorry we'd made the drive.

Well determined not to let the day be a total waste Michael and I decided to take the kids for some Cici's Pizza then it was over to Evans Park in Mesquite for some Christmas fun.  Every year the city decorates the park for Christmas and on the first weekend they have lots of festivities for the family to enjoy.  For us we had already missed the festivities but we didn't let that ruin our fun of walking through the lights and seeing all of the decor.  As a matter of fact, I think that being out there alone without the crowds allowed each of us to relax quite a bit and it really did turn into a great evening full of pictures to share.
